Thread: Audio over HDMI with 8400GS

hi,

having trouble getting ubuntu (lucid) recognise nvidia 8400gs (one of newer ones , hdmi plug integrated card) option sound output, not 1 needs cable form motherboard spdif out.

have read heaps of info getting various nvidia cards output sound on hdmi , have managed upgrade latest alsa (1.0.23), tried different nvidia drivers (currently using 195 think) , still nothing.

aplay -l shows onboard sound card , can't seem locate things sound.conf in etc/modprobe.d

aplay -l output:

has else managed overcome problem?

htpc running xbmc having audio , video on 1 cable aim , since motherboard doesn't have optical audio out appears way surround sound.

know how can video card recognised audio output?

appreciated.

update:

tard, card still needs cable motherboard spdif out, hide better , there wasn't cable included card.

working after trip parts.
