Thread: USB Link Cable help?

hello

have desktop pc , need transfer of files on laptop. told me if had usb link cable, have bought one, kind of thinking plug , play nothing happens when both machines switched on , cable plugged in @ both ends. (please excuse naïveté.)

can talk me through have make 2 pcs talk 1 or link me somewhere has been explained?
