Thread: Iron browser 5.0.381 in Lucid 10.04

hello all, adding short note detail install, of other threads getting little dated, added 1 again it's little lost in shuffle, i'm new here, forgive me if break protocols , feel free correct if needed

downloaded new build of iron 5.0.381 here:

install incredibly straightforward thankfully (i'm noob linux), moved package download file home file, opened terminal , used code:

tar xvfz iron-linux.tar.gz

then closed terminal, navigated home file there "iron-linux" file. opened , clicked on iron executable , opened , asked if wanted import settings, imported bookmarks etc. firefox , started browsing immediately. it, painless , quick.

right-clicked after on desktop , made launcher, added icon came in iron files icon used desktop shortcut (product_logo_48.png).

decided add adblock feature that's enabled, , here first glitch; according documentation, download should have come empty "adblock.ini" file fill , move correct location, didn't. solution me found in sr ware forum got download from, opened terminal again, started nano simple command:

and navigated sr ware recommended adblock.ini file:

copied file, , pasted new nano file had opened. being new this, unsure how save wanted proper name, wound saving in home file wrong name(nano.save). renamed quick right-click, , opened terminal again move :

sudo mv adblock.ini /opt

"/opt" being location requires work.

started up, , can report fast , functional, ads being blocked (though not quite smoothly or thoroughly adblock firefox), flash sites work , fast (youtube, hulu) , haven't had glitches far.

on old machine single core amd64 2.0 ghz, nvidia 6200 tc video card, , 1 gig of ddr400, peacekeeper scores were:

firefox = 1138
iron = 3272

pretty significant difference, , shows when browsing.
