Acrobat security truncating links

i discovered issue...

at point in last couple of weeks, change in acrobat security (i think) causing link information truncated down current pdf files location.

 

here's scenario.  had movie files user open link in pdf. sake of neatness, movies located in movies folder inside folder held pdf. 2 weeks ago worked fine. aware there copies of these burned cd on hard disk, there's no way directory or file hierarchy changed on those. nothing has been touched on files working version 2 weeks ago non-working version had tonight, files same.  conclusion it's got ms or adobe security mucking things up. i'm heavily leaning towards adobe, @ moment.

 

anyway, went open files tonight, , acrobat says can't locate files.  check links, , fine. browse on disc , sure enough, files link thinks are. why don't open?  well, after being pissed few minutes decided experiment... go duplicate folders on hard disk , moved 1 of mp4 files in question movies folder out directory contains pdf. bingo! magically works. mind, link not pointing file opened, opened... go figure. able verify quicktime loading file link not pointing to.  believe because adobe security truncating link current directory.

 

anybody else running this? i've verified happens on acrobat 8.2.4 pro on vista x64, reader 9.3.4 on win 7 x64. haven't tried on xp machine yet, betcha acts if update reader current level.

 

what's this, , when fixed?!?  ridiculous! users have cleared file safe, open link already.

i should state movies educational purposes, in cases i'm not dealing super computer literate folks, , can't control security settings on end-user machines.  why this, adobe?

the aug 19, 2010 security patch seems have causes issues these more few folks use links external documents/files in pdfs.  , no, there no way uninstall security patch (well, maybe if did complete reinstall of acrobat , did not apply patch....).

 

so no... not alone.  of have submitted bug reports issue.  don't know if adobe has plans correct @ time.
