cant make outlines on image.......

hello again.... in advance help/advise. again cutting vinyl , reason image wont let me create outlines. attempted cut out in photoshop , copy/paste in illustrator , still wont work. wont let me magic wand or anything. ideas stuck. again -nick

you seem unaware of fundamental differences between illustrator , photoshop. illustrator can treat placed raster image (i.e. bitmap art such photoshop) 1 single object, no way access part of image. illustrator cannot edit data within placed images nor can select part of placed image editing. illustrator can edit vector graphics, mathematically defined paths, objects, text, or linked or embedded image objects.

illustrator’s magic wand behaved differently photoshop’s because of fundamental difference in type of graphics programs can create , edit. because photoshop works on graphics @ pixel level, can select individual pixels in image. photoshop’s magic wand works sampling pixel (or pixels) under cursor , selecting nearby pixels matching colour values. illustrator instead works creating , selecting entire shapes, must basis illustrator’s magic wand. when click on object using illustrator’s magic wand tell illustrator select objects match object, based on tools preferences. click on red object , red objects selected. illustrator’s magic wand useless selecting part of raster image because illustrator cannot select part of image.

what want trace image. there 2 primary ways this. 1 simple , can done few clicks of mouse, results messy , useless plotting vinyl. 1 hard, required lot of familiarity illustrator, takes longer, , produces results need. 1 want with?
