Thread: Reinstalling GRUB on RAID array
i have computer running ubuntu 10.04 desktop x64. bought tb drive , wanted combine 2 drives using raid 0. have msi 890gxm-g65 motherboard , decided use built in raid support. last step of setting raid asked confirmation delete mbr , had feeling things going go wrong decided chance it. needless can no longer boot ubuntu. did searching , suggested booting live version of ubuntu , reinstalling grub there. tried can't seem mount harddrives. ideas on how i'd go mounting , reinstalling grub? in advance can offer.
look @ reference reinstalling grub 2: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/grub2#reinstalling grub 2
further explanation. when have ubuntu installed raid partition , booting on raid array, appears are, root raid partition installed , boot loader has written raid root drive. installer tries write boot loader hard disk (sda, sdb, etc) rather raid root. nomenclature these locations found in /dev/mapper. after have mounted installed file system /mnt per instructions, root-directory /mnt , target boot loader /dev/mapper/<youroverallraidarrayname> appears in /mnt/dev/mapper (<youroverallraidarrayname> first so-called symbolic link preceeding individual raid partitions). hope enough going. post if need more help.
