have problems laptop using ubuntu 10.04.1 (x86_64)

main problem ati mobility radeon hd 5850 card.

have latest proprietary driver ati homepage (10.8 ).
ok but...

1 - have burg installed , configured (compressed picture it's 20 times smaller original 1 - theme coffee it's veeeeerryyyy slow till renders.. goes top bottom.. , can see how loads.. line line

2 - have space-sunrise plymouth theme installed looks somehow strange.. mean it's kind of game runs on 16bit , colors strange too.

non-kms case in case of hardware not have kernel mode setting driver, instead fallback using ordinary framebuffer drivers plymouth capable of rendering to.  non-x86 ports, may sufficient eliminate flickers , mode-switches; though require appropriate x drivers patched support -nr option. if not patched, black screen appear x server starts, otherwise experience reasonable.  x86 hardware different graphics card "big three", fallback loading 16-color vga framebuffer driver. require kernel change load driver on graphics hardware, ensure last in link/module order others take preference it.  while limited in colors, sufficiently simple plugin provided give similar experience current usplash.

i guess it's case. there kms support on video card (?) card not oldest 1 it's 1 of latest. (1 gb video memory)

3 - before installed plymouth theme default boot screen looked strange (it seamed there wrong resolution , flickers when loading bar appears.. mean 5 *.. go black , again colored)

tried disable (?) kms adding nomodeset grub , burg configs - there no difference.

please me bringing ati hd 5850 work properly.

don't know information need please tell me config need.

i guess new xorg.conf created after added 'nomodeset' grub/burg config

in video working mean visual effects on , there absolutely no problem when ubuntu loaded.

you know what, ubuntu , ubuntu's community!

of handicapped persons. can't make working kms in kernel. used opensuse 11.3 on hd 5850 , had absolutely no problem, kms worked had no problems configurating hardware , else..

custom (ubuntu) kernels suck!
can't solving problems create.

it's stupid(!) because on windows 7 ati lets me play latest games ultra video settings without problems.. stupid plymouth showing me 16-bit image... isn't bit strange?!
