Extplorer exploit? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

has heard of exploit in extplorer can gain access files outside of current site's directory , delete files elsewhere on server? have host telling me has lockdown extplorer because of vulnerability.

this first i've heard of - , not usual host (he's host renting space else, that's client using). in fact, installation of extplorer has not worked on server past week i've been trying work him. pretty neither has else. he's running linux server , has no clue joomla - it's been 1 problem after another. have plenty of other joomla sites on different servers , have not had 1 issue.

anyway, question - b.s? there crazy exploit that? he's telling me found in joomla forums , i'm not finding anywhere.

please advise, i'm curious think one.

i somehow doubt extplorer doing special - it's more host doesn't support suexec , gives users access files 'nobody' or 'apache' user has access to. installing extplorer irrelevant. write custom php code accomplish same thing.
