eXtplorer FTP mode vs File and File Permission issues - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
hi,
we have been having permission issues uploading files host hasn't been able resolve yet. can change permissions on dir not ones below using extplorer in ftp mode.
when use extplorer in file mode 1 entry in directory tree - root, appears place holder cannot drill down on it. when login ftp mode full directory structure public_html. sounds config issue - have experience extplorer this?
this problem causing not able upload images/files...media manager doesn't allow uploads @ all.
thanks,
dkc

extplorer has been pretty solid in experience, although have seen few situations doesn't seem work on servers.
you try alternative tool, joomla explorer: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... gement/102
or ninja explorer: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ement/4746
both similar tools.
or, use stand alone ftp program. make bit easier recurse through folders , set folder permissions , file permissions.
and, running linux "ownership" issue (which different permissions issue.
for example, in extplorer in file mode, talking file system whoever "owner" of joomla process (either "apache" or "nobody").
but, when switch ftp mode, becomes different user / owner (the user attached ftp account credentials).
but, try of other tools, or stand alone ftp.
and, if stand alone ftp program allows go upload /images/ ... folder, try setting "ftp mode" in global configuration same external ftp. joomla log in ftp user when uploading files.
