Random character appears when outlining text in Illustrator CS4 !!!

firstly, appreciated.

 

my problem shown below, have artwork containing live text produced in illustrator cs4 on mac. on outlining file forwarding prepress, random "d" appears @ end of 1 of sentences. have been unable find reason this. "d" not visible when document viewed in outline mode, not visible when hidden characters shown, cannot selected using text cursor, appears regardless of typeface used, , there no effects or transparencies applied text. of great concern, produce artwork using live fonts, , on approval outline files , forward them prepress bureau, result of random characters appearing on printed material prove costly.

 

if illustrator document saved cs2 compatible file cs4, opened in cs2 , outlined not occur.

same thing here, in cs3. files came client, appear have been created , saved in cs3 also. couldn't fix cs5.

 

in our case, it's phantom w sits on own line before w. no hard return, no soft return, no spaces, nothing shows invisibles on. can select (using shift , arrow keys) , format it, , changes show when outline it. select , type different character, , winds on next line next "real" w, should. double-clicking word selects phantom letter well.

 

type area type, , it's rotated 180° (packaging). original fonts trajan pro , universltstd.
