Thread: Oh this can't be good...

i installed ubuntu yesterday on brand new hard drive , getting it. so, few hours ago started notice strange. periodically little blips in system. nothing major, or thought. periodic black screen lasted second or two. fixed tap of space bar. however... turned off machine , came hour ago. turned on , initial boot screen select want boot, , then... nothing. zip. nada. have manually gone in , ensured proper drive selected. starts boot , goes black. odd, yes. ok, that's not good, right? threw in ubuntu installation cd figuring try booting see if hd somehow defective. guess what? cd doesn't boot either. same thing hard drive. 9 seconds of original ubuntu purple screen , black. cannot boot ubuntu hard drive or ubuntu cd. but... slipped old vista hd machine, , booted fine. it's not machine. has in linux, can't fathom how affect cd, has not been in machine since did install. thoughts? anyone? bueller?

have connected apart hard-drive example new usb device? added new pci card? new monitor? anything?
