Lazy Backup 2 - Sendmail, PHP Mail, SMTP Errors - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i getting various errors when tried send backup email address using lazy backup 2. resolved problems looking through forums. process described below.

for godaddy hosting, may missing. may work other hosting services too.

i looked in section of administrator area , found entries did not know
there. had never looked. had seen enough configurations know entries mean.
used entries sendmail_from, smtp, , smtp_port in global configuration > server , able send backup file email address. see steps below.


steps

select @ top menu > system info

under configuration @ entries php core.

go sendmail_from , @ entry name@somesite.com (.net or ever).

look under smtp name.somesite.com (.net or ever).

look @ smtp_port 25 (or ever number).

write down info sendmail_from, smtp, , smtp_port. click site > control panel in top menu.

click global configuration. says site | system | server, click server.

under mail settings...

mailer - smtp server
mail - name@somesite.com (whatever written down)!!!
name - (your site or ever name)
sendmail path - (leave blank)***
smtp authentication - no
smtp security - none
smtp port - (what ever written down)!!!
smtp username - (leave blank)***
smtp password - (leave blank)***
smtp host - (what ever written down)!!!

*** means leave blank
!!! comes php core entries under configuration sendmail_from (mail from) , smtp (smtp host) , smtp_port (smtp port).

after using orignial mail address, works email on domain , address
with gmail.

if steps not work you, may need upgrade joomla or add patch. version of joomla upgraded 1.5.14 1.5.15 , patch referenced son4t400 applied (see below).

smtp security - none

smtp username - (leave blank)***
smtp password - (leave blank)***

i'm 2 months joomla , still learning bunch how works. i'm guessing if there automatic install using hosting companies quick installer, joomla gets configured use smtp server. of trying use smtp put our own selections in mail section , not recognized hosting companies smtp host service, error messages.

if manual install, joomla , web host service don't communicate smtp server information , has entered manually. still need web host name use smtp first time!
