Thread: Why changing of mac address isn't recommended ?

why changing of mac address isn't recommended ?

possible reasons can find

1) can break firewalls
2) can break dhcp implementations ?


there other reasons have missed ?

i've never heard either of reasons. i've changed mac addresses without problems many times. have examples of firewalls or dhcp servers can tell if mac address has been changed? don't see how can tell. unless you're talking configuring system , changing addresses afterwards cause config break?
