Basic Image Resizing Questions

1. when want have "resample image" checked?

2. when not want constrain proportions?

1 when want change how many pixels there in image, either more or less. need done variety of reasons. change file size , structure of image, why have been advised leave alone. need use option. should not used casually knowing why doing it.    

 

2 hardly ever want not "constrain proportions". un-checking allows physically stretch image fit new xy ratio. demo of does, can enter values these boxes, , see happens. don't think have ever resampled image "constrain" off in years of photoshop use.
