Decoupling main page title / article title - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
problem description:
page title, "<title>" , article title need different home page (or, need find way). http://www.nemw.org/
you notice home page's <title> current initiatives. should "northeast-midwest institute". but, halfway down page... right before 3 articles says "current initiatives" , should stay same.
by changing menu item "current initiatives" "northeast-midwest institute" can change <title> on home page changes menu item on page. can choose not show title list 3 articles without title i'd have title there. having <title>d current initiatives makes google searches "nemw" show oddly (but reason not "northeast-midwest institute").
so want page shows exact same content override <title> on main page without changing page contents.
current settings:
joomla! 1.5.8 production/stable [ wohnaiki ] 10-november-2008 23:00 gmt
microsoft-iis/6.0
php 5.2.10
global configuration -> site name: northeast-midwest institute

hello fohrenschall,
try this:
- edit default menu item (the "home" menu item)
- open parameters(system) tab;
- clear field named "page title"
- set "show title" option "no"
- save
when menu item's page title empty, joomla! use site name set in global configuration browser title.
hope helps,
