File sort order

i've imported number of old scanned family photos lightroom 2.7 running on windows xp.  there no metadata except scan date, sort file name.

the naming convention use yyyy-mm-dd.scan.<unique number>.jpg.  if don't know precise date substitute 'x' unknown day, month, or year, have lot of file names start, example, 196x-xx-xx.scan...  because know photo taken in 60's, that's know.

the problem?  lightroom sorts 198x-xx-xx before 1915-xx-xx.  know it's lightroom sorting algorithm because had same problem windows explorer , able fix registry hack.

is there way turn off feature in lightroom?

there no way in lr alter way in prioritises sort. adding x instead of number source of problem, easier use real number instead. 1961 more or less accurate 196x? there such a  year?  it's easier follow rules try create own.
