How to hold a button in the hitbox state in flash

hi there.

 

i've created image dozen irregular buttons. works perfectly. want edit flash cs5 file in way that, when clicked upon 1 button, last of 4 states (the hitbox state) remain visible until 1 clicks button. looping fist state. im sure there must easy way this, stop code maybe?

the hitbox state not displayed, defines interactive area button involves.

 

up until as3 came being, there no method available controlling button states.  if using as3, have ability change upstate, overstate, downstate, , hitteststate properties of simplebutton class, though need juggle storing states if want reset them back.

 

if want have total control on buttons, best option create them movieclips, can control please.
