Flash 10.0 not recognized CentOS

not sure exact version of flash because new one.  if working correctly

i view flash version on web site.  "strings" command on libflashplayer.so

shows entered below though.

 

flash version: shockwave flash 10.1 r82
linux version: centos 4.8 (updated via yum on years 4.5).  2.6.9-89.0.25.elsmp

firefox version: 3.0.19-1.el4.centos / 3.0.19

 

here happens.  use lnx 9,0,48,0 flash worked in past , still does

for things youtube.  things requiring flash won't display though , ask me to

update.  have updated repeatedly 10 1 of 2 things happens:

 

1) flash version still shows lnx 9,0,48,0.  believe because did not have correct location put libflashplayer.so, or

2) try view should work 10 , black box.  assume means libflashplayer.so in its

    correct location somehow causing error , not being recognized.  trying view flash version tells me have

    update.  if update through yum says installed.  similar problems other methods.

 

the method have tried download gz file.  instructions copy libflashplayer.so plugins directory.

 

i have copied /home/chamberl/.mozilla/plugins, /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, /usr/lib/firefox-3.0.19/plugins, , maybe other places

but still same problems.

 

if had make educated guess guess flash version 10 not compatible centos4.* or maybe current

version of firefox or both, cannot find compatibility charts.  problem is, or else?

 

also please note when go lnx 9,0,48,0 stuff works again did.  many flash sites work tell me upgrade again.
