Problem with exporting from large sequences

i'm running cs5 5.02 on windows 7 professional 64-bit x58a-ud3r mobo, i7 930, 12 gb ram, , gtx 470.  footage non-widescreen ntsc dv.

 

i put 100 clips or on 1000 clips on sequence.

 

when go file-->export , start exporting video small work area (10 seconds or less), brings dialogue box says "encoding sequence 01" , doesn't make progress painfully long time if there many clips on sequence.  more clips in sequence, longer waits before exporting.  if isolate same clip in empty sequence , try export same small work area, exports file.

 

i've tried several export formats: mpeg2, h264, quicktime, etc., same results.  exporting still jpeg work on large sequence, slow export video.

 

it's if premiere trying encode entire sequence though i've told encode small work area.  still exports small work area requested, not entire sequence. have setting wrong?

 

can please try replicate and/or give me advice?  seems unnecessary premiere "think" longer time on longer sequence if i'm asking export few seconds of video.

can tell source footage is, , sequence preset is?

 

might there, clue in.
