Optimising playback in Premiere CS4
hi there
i'm using premiere cs4 on imac (2.4ghz core 2 duo/4gb ram). i'm working h264 footage shot using eos 550d. footage on external 7200rpm g-disk connected via fw800.
i'm using premiere first time in while - i'm trying switch on final cut pro.
i'm doing edit music. have sequence settings set same thing footage - h264 1920x1080. when try , play sequence in timeline, things go out of time, footage lags, computer struggles keep itself. if render footage displays green bar, won't play without lagging or going out of time. way i've found around change video preview settings low-quality codec dv or graphics.
i know if editing in final cut, play lower quality 'preview' version while edit edit can seen in time music, , require me render if had effects on clips (which don't) - premiere have similar feature this? seems silly have render different (and bad) codec every time want see in time!
thanks
