Thread: Automatically playing music on start-up?

hi, running ubuntu 9.10.

want start playing music automatically when computer boots up. easiest solution achieving this? found thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=671163 i'm having trouble installing xmms(where find it, starters?)

nice if automagically increase volume on time, thing serve alarm clock since bios has nifty feature can automatically start computer once hits configured time , date.

on windows used combination of winamp, clamp(command-line winamp) , batch file, fair amount of work done did wanted to, including volume control thing.

alternatively, if know caffeine-free(allergic caffeine) energy-drink that's sold in finland, forget this.
