running ubuntu 10.04 , have created live usb ubuntu 10.10. notice many programs have newer versions in the 10.10 repositories. wonder happen 10.04? softwares updated accordingly or stuck old versions while though 10.10 versions have been updated?

no. programs keep versions, except few exceptions. that's way ubuntu , of other distros work.
