help with lab mode save

hi,

 

hope not sound stupid, there image in lab mode problem is

i cannot save it...or don't know how save it.

 

my workflow is..

raw image in photoshop - image - lab mode

press channels get   lab: lightness: channel: b channel

i turn off lab , b channel ( gives me image lightness , channel)

i try save saved file looks original lab image.

 

am doing wrong or not possible this

only few file formats remember channel visibility, , didn't specify format(s) using.

have tried filling b channel 128 (neutral), or deleting channel?
