Thread: SimCity 4 no pic/sound ok

i able install simcity 4 ok when go play it, screen goes either yellow or digitizes. can hear sound of game fine. tried reinstalling game same thing happens. have had played on same pc (however running 9.10 @ time , not 10.04) tips?

nice hear have success in linux too. here some experiences i've had:

- running in wine-windowed desktop mode. need put env xmodifiers='' before wine ".../simcity 4.exe" -args, if keyboard doesn't work.

- game windowed mode w/ -w argument doesn't work software or opengl mode. gdi can work, it's slower, choppy, , may need set custom resolution run @ same mode have x (e.g. x running @ 1650x1050 @ 24-bit = -r1650x1024x24 ... not 16 or 32) increase performance, since graphics won't have recalculated different depth. stick opengl.

- registry tweaks modifying performance, aren't prereqs game. 2 need explicitly put videomemorysize , directdrawrenderer.

- graphical issues, 'residue' query tools, common, , shadows stuck low quality, regardless of setting.

- no 'native' windows .dlls needed run simcity 4 deluxe (though needed 3rd party programs); ones wine sufficient.

- copy directx files wine's system32 folder, , change registry , shortcut settings reflect. overall graphics performance subjectively better (speed, shadows, no artifacts), automata messed up.

have 1.8gb of plugins , datpacking has improved performance (50 sec first loading time, 20 sec successive loading time). use windows in virtualbox run 3rd party programs w/o having boot vista. also, had blank text bug/crashing problem. thought due file names (which still haven't ruled out), datpacking has solved problem too.

have got try cdemu. need nightlighting patch potential mayor diary pictures. though, have same behavior daemon tools: having unmount, remount file if close game first time , go in game?
