Extension for a file download site - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi - joomla newbie here. want create site manages series of files, each file has it's own page title, description, author, , download link. manually create bunch of articles information in, wondering if knew better way. preferably i'd manage list of files database engine. using e-commerce system stripping out payment system solution ?
