Placing Illustrator file in InDesign
hi guys,
is there thing have in mind when placing illustrator file indesign? mean colors space, scale, etc. common sense "no" because illustrator files vector base, no resolution or scale issues should matter here. nevertheless ask more experienced user in matter.
thanks input.
cheers,
sebs
if file meant printed on process colour printing press, make sure illustrator files set file > document color mode > cmyk. if printing spot colours, use cmyk , make sure spot colours correctly defined such , colours in multiple files (illustrator, indesign, , photoshop) use exactly same names, 1 version of colour shows in indesign’s swatches panel.
vectors scale neatly no loss of resolution, rasters not. rasters can be: artwork rasterized in illustrator file, raster art imported illustrator file, or raster effects used in illustrator drop shadow or outer glow. make sure effect > document raster effect settings use appropriate resolution, taking in mind scaling taking place in indesign. if want 200 ppi , have scaled artwork 200%, use 400 ppi.
