Thread: No splash screen at startup
after upgrading 10.4 splash screen animation disappeared. see string says loading , desktop appears. how turn splash screen on again?
do mean having gone usplash+xsplash plymouth, or splash-screen on logging gnome? since mention animation, i'll have assume it's former case. and, in case, don't know how you. it's theoretically possible, i'm sure, remember fighting fierce battle archlinux on this. won't easy, can tell much... first thing, though, check whether xsplash , usplash available in repositories @ all. if aren't, well, plymouth stays. (and forcefully removing plymouth going break system in many ways you'll go cross-eyed thrice, don't think it.)
there are, of course, other themes plymouth might interested in. in repositories, few can found on gnome-look.org. changing themes not easy either, though, , there few instructions on gnome-look. mean, exist, i've seen 1 or 2 postings instructions out of... dunno, nine?
