Thread: Please Help A Newbie To Ubuntu

hi,

i've been searching best part of 2 days , have conceeded here's problem

i've installed lastest version of ubuntu acer revo 3600.

love far, clean, minimalistic, it's fantastic. want use pc , os htpc fits me.

problem have this.

have 2 usb hdd's connected windows vista machine acts server (on 24/7 in case have use log me in home) linux revo , hp vista machine both on same network , router.

have shared these drives, , before today i've never had problem accessing them.

here's problem

when goto "network" on linux, shows windows shares.

when click here shows me server downstairs. double click prompts me username, domain , password.

assume same windows vista username , password, , domain same.

(i have tried changing domain on windows machine workgroup mshome makes no difference)

no matter type pops 2 seconds later , asks me re-enter username domain , password , never lets me see of shares.

please, can shed light on me, it's killing me

wrong cat, i'll out anyway

right click on shares on vista , choose , no password.
it's ages since sat down vista machine, i'm lil rusty things
