Navigation button problems

i trying create following navigation button. however, instructions don't seem make sense me: http://www.webdesign.org/photoshop/web-layout/professional-navigation-buttons.9049.html

 

can see wrong , suggest correct version looking supposed to? want cerate button, starting out photoshop, can't seem right.

well, 1 thing tutorial implying you'll end rounded-edged button, there's no provision in instructions creating that.  rectangular marquee tool left @ defaults make simple sharp-cornered rectangle.  doesn't seem give instructions on how overlay second rectangle (square) in button.

 

a wise man once said, "make simple possible, no simpler".  don't think creator of tutorial heeded advice.

 

maybe want different tutorial - 1 uses rounded rectangle shape tool perhaps.
