Help Getting This Black & White > Colour Effect

im trying effect

 

its 2 of same images, 1 x black n white 1 x colour

 

the colour under neath , black , white rub out parts want.

 

i cant seem figure out how merge 2 coloured pics,and earse properly.

 

really novice user here sorry

1. open color picture
2. duplicate background layer
3. open hue/saturation adjustment layer above background copy layer. clicking on half black/white circular icon in layers palette
4. drag saturation slider (the middle one) way left
5. your color chip (left corner) should black foreground color
6. access brush tool , paint black want color visible. if go far, correct painting white

 

tips

using x on keyboard toggles between black , white

the bracket keys can used change brush size ] increase, [ decrease
