Text effects cause grey boxes when exported PDFs viewed in Digital Editions

hello...

 

i'm working indesign cs4 export files pdfs read in digital editions. however, text has text effects (drop shadow, inner glow etc.) applied appears grey box around when viewed in digital editions. pdfs fine in indesign, reader, , acrobat, reason terrible when opened in digital editions.

i'm @ loss can done, other taking text effects out of document (defintely not ideal). i'm exporting on standard "high quality print" settings, though i've tried other standard presets (press quality, etc.) no luck.

 

has had problem , found solution?

(i apologize if i'm missing information, i'm not regular around these parts.)

looks can't display drop shadows , effects. try turning them off.
