Thread: Developers packages

hi all,

i'm fedora guy, thought i'd give ubuntu shot. when install fedora there option install "developers packages". did not see such option while installing ubuntu. having couple of issues:

1) trying build open source project use time, i'm getting basic error:

code:
error: iostream.h: no such file or directory
i installed glibc*, gcc* , g++ no avail. installed kdevplat*, error persists. package missing?

2) trying install boost:
code:
doriad@davidlaptop:~/bin/vtk$ sudo apt-get install libboost-* following packages have unmet dependencies: libboost-mpi-dev: depends: libboost-mpi1.40-dev not installable e: broken packages
i haven't done except use apt-get install, can't imagine there should conflicts?

thanks,

david

any thoughts on this?

thanks,

david
