Thread: Hard drive issue at boot

run ubuntu 10.04 (upgrade 9.04 , 9.10) on dell inspiron 1525 laptop.
few weeks ago, started have issues when booting: computer remains stuck long time on screen showing "boot (hd0,4) ext3...". boot in end, while shows black screen single flashing white underscore... sometimes, computer seems boot normally.
have looked in dmesg. here extract of parts (i think) show errors:

besides, such problems occured different kernels in ubuntu 9.10 , 10.04.
have tried booting windows, seems work, never use it...
thinking may hard drive or filesystem issue, ran fsck live cd. did not detect problem.
maybe hard drive dying ?however, computer 1 year , few months old...
appreciate or idea regarding nature of problem.
thank in advance !!
i'm having same issue. i'd read might problem kernel 2.6.32-x (like in lucid, i'm running) , fixed in 2.6.34.x (i.e, maverick). haven't had chance upgrade yet, though.
