i'm rather new web-design, , i need general guidance. looking @ taking on rather ambitious project company. need create website can of following:
host online classes. these would sort of flash-based class, i'm guessing. have video, audio, slides , tests.
client logins. clients need able see accounts, , list of past classes have taken.
class calendar. need create interactive calendar can chose class attend, , register it. needs searchable.
shopping cart. people need able register / pay classes , materials.
news / faq / comments sections. website needs able have revolving content. way can put bunch of news / customer feedback comments database, , website refresh with content database. need general faq section.
employee logins. employees need able login website , pull a list of registered class, whether or not paid, , whether or not materials have been sent. employees need able upload documents managers. managers need be able assign dos employees.
contact database. need website host online contact database our company.
it spectacular if our website host sort of online accounting database. of our people work remote locations, so immensly helpful if our accounts manager keep an online register, owners view whenever wish.
i know pretty involved list - , i'm not looking someone walk me through each step of putting - to point me in right direction! said, i'm new to web-design , have no idea programs should looking into. don't know if dreamweaver can accomplish / of these things, or if should looking moreso @ flash builder or elearning suite.... or combination of three. be appreciated!!!
dreamweaver default application this.
you try flash full 'rich internet application" though... whether that's better or not depends programming strengths lie.
being new 'web-design', you've laid out monumental challenge. experienced developer, describe multi-month project. getting started, unless you're prodigy of kinda, multi-year project.
there applications on web. there particular reason you'd build own version?
"learning management systems" cover of functionality , there huge number of lms products out there, ranging in costs , features.
for features lms can't handle, there surely third-party products can integrated (i.e. use lms 1 vendor has need, use, say, calendering system google if lms doesn't have one).
or cobble variety of outside products. google covers half needs. between services, dimdim, , oscommerce slap together. of course, making component work take deep programming experience...
moodle, sakai, ilias, , docent open-source learning management products may need, , there others.
inquisiq r3 (disclosure, lms use) 1 of many in 'small business' category. search web inquisiq , you'll find others riding coattails.
learn.com, mzinga, saba, , cornerstone higher-end lms products intended more enterprise level, used @ level.
i think unless have lot of time , absolutely no money, comparison of time you'd invest in making capable product of such scale show better investment use 1 of many products exist.
