Thread: 9.10 - Kernel Update 2.6.32-22-generic = sh.grub>

hi all,

did kernel update via update manager today. unfortunately , after , disaster happened whereby sh.grub> prompt appeared on screen.

got no idea how rescue or repair grub. installed ubuntu 9.10 in e:\ under windows 7 partition , labeled "ubuntu". has dual boot capability.

please advise. appreciate

really need more info, read on:

sounds wubi install, sound right?

if may helpful:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...lems:wubi_9.10

although i'm thinking 2.6.32* lucid kernel

i'd want sure we're working karmic , not lucid before proceeding. there's different problem wubi in lucid:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/wubi/+bug/610898

should render whole puter unbootable, you're @ this?

if may place look:

important note wubi (windows ubuntu) users: grub update results in "no such disk":
late july 2010 grub 2 update causing "no such disk" error users of wubi, resulting in unbootable system. if system doesn't display original windows menu, cause of failure grub 2 installed in mbr and/or on windows partition. correct this, restore windows bootloader using link:
