Thread: Mini PCI-e wifi card recommendation?

have thinkpad t61 atheros ar5212 wifi card. ever since ubuntu went open source driver (ath5k) madwifi drivers, i've had issues wifi connectivity. problem wifi connectivity drops 5-30 seconds every few minutes. lot of remote command-line , remote desktop work , starting drive me mad. i've scoured net , have not yet found solution. tried installing madwifi drivers once, , worked better, card doesn't work after wake machine suspend.

can recommend mini pci-e wifi card works on ubuntu (and ideally, other distros) native drivers? if have laptop, running lucid, , have 0 problems wifi, i'd appreciate if take time lspci , post output.

i'd recommend intel 5100. real cheap of ebay. however, won't work in thinkpad bios checks if cards original ibm/lenovo card during boot , refuses boot card installed. there workarounds, take @ before buying anything: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/proble...i_network_card
might easier install madwifi.
