[CS4] A Photoshop-style negative blend mode

i can't illustrator work way want. afair had same problem corel draw time ago.

illustrator different photoshop. artwork in illustrator object based, not pixel based. have not explained how created photoshop image, unclear how expect illustrator behave. of many ways achieve same appearance in illustrator, perhaps simplest:

1. make smaller text white.
2. copy larger text item.
3. select rectangle (if line instead, go object > path > outline stroke).
4. edit > paste behind.
5. shift-click on rectangle.
6. object > clipping mask > make.
7. sorry this, have select rectangle again , put fill colour in. yes, pain in anus should unnecessary.
