Thread: New Ubuntu User Needs Advice

hello. new ubuntu , have laptop (acer aspire) went down to viruses , other crap (it wasnt pretty) decided renew 2 year old , want wipe drive , install ubuntu on it. question ubuntu should install? main purpose store music , pictures , possibly use up.

you can try out different flavors using live cds. burn couple of them (ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu) , see works best.

have own reasons preference. went ubuntu. i'm convincing mom go linux, , she's leaning toward kubuntu because default theme seems resemble windows bit more more familiar.
