Workflow question starting big, then small, then big, it goes on

i have project. have several comps, let's call 1 of them comp a.

 

comp a 1920x1080 pixels in size. hoping company make switch blu-ray sooner or later, hasn't happend yet, working large.

 

i need output standard dvd size, 864x486

 

so place comp a inside of new comp, let's call sizercomp. sizercomp 864x486 pixels in size, , comp gets rendered, , finally, authored dvd.

 

i notice dvd results output, text blurry. because of workflow have used? or maybe need scale text larger? it's not small text, on smaller side.

 

 

ok onward.

so rendering videos 3ds max. don't want render @ 1920x1080 because takes forever. safe render @ final size dvd be? can render 864x486, place file comp a, , scale fill comp? pretty double size of 3d frames outputted, upon final render, whole comp a sized down 864x486 again, original size of 3d frames.

 

so second scenario, looking @ quality loss on 3d output?

if point of working large think there may need large version later, suggest doing 3d renders @ large size, if takes long time. scaling of raster images going cause quality loss.
