How to overcome "Not Enough Memory to Save the File"

i trying export layered illustrator cs5 file psd file.

on export keep getting message: "not enough memory save file"

 

what kind of memory referrring to? storage or ram?

i thought had plenty of both.

i have 32 gb of ram , running no other application.

i have several terabytes of on raid

i'm using 2 x 2.93 quad core intel xeon mac running os 10.6.4

 

here settings using:

export:

use artboard (which make file 29 x 29-inches in size instead of twice big)

high 300 dpi

flat

anti-alias

embed icc profile

 

if turn off anti-alias can export @ 150 dpi text looks jagged.

 

note: document using in ai has 28 layers.

why export? need layers in tact? if type "looks jagged' type isn't transferring live type.

 

you can try splitting file fewer layers. export each section of file , re-combine layers in photoshop.

 

i ask, because of don't need layers, save pdf open pdf photoshop.
