AE CS5 hangs on initializing mediacore

hello!

 

yes, know has been posted zillion times, issues still has not been fixed , i'm not sure why. i've tried listed in these threads, i'm hoping can help.

 

i'm using cs5 suite on macbook pro os x, 10.5.8

 

problem: when click on ae icon, bounces, splash appears, , hangs on 'initializing mediacore' 15-20 minutes

 

i have tried following:

 

-uninstalled , reinstalled

-took out codec suggested interferring

-uninstalled , reinstalled qt

-downloaded ae update

-rebooted in safe mode

 

i can't seem find issue. rest of programs in cs5 suite seem working fine. didn't have problem cs4.

 

note: noticed first time upon using maya 2010 first time in class. tried open ae import render, , that's when hung on splash. i'm not sure if maya has interferring, if that's case, have suggestions on how fix it?

that  document talks aggressive firewall settings, we've seen  other software (like filemaker) can block tcp  communication these components require.
