Thread: how do I clean up program associations and whatnot?

i'm not sure if common, when right-click file , choose "open with", list containing tons of duplicates. pointers on how clean up?

on related note, suggested programs on right click aren't relevant. maybe it's wine thing (it sucks @ removing software, impression) option open file notepad or other windows app, though removed (with --purge, no less) wine while back.

into synaptic can find 2 tools clean system: gconf-cleaner (yes all) & bleachbit (use carefully: read , understand each setting do, use admin)
